DEXA London – 3Beam

Two DEXA scan types. The body composition scan measures total body fat, lean muscle mass and visceral fat with a regional breakdown across arms, legs and trunk (around 220 measurements). The bone density scan assesses bone mineral density to identify osteopenia, osteoporosis and fracture risk.

The standard price is £150 (reduced from £189). No GP referral is required, as the internal Medical Director acts as the referrer. Bone density scans are reported by UK consultant rheumatologists via Medica.

A scan takes about 10 to 15 minutes and uses low radiation of roughly one day of natural background exposure. You receive a same-day PDF report comparing your results with typical ranges for your age and sex.

It is at 86 Harley Street, Marylebone, London W1G 7HP, near Regent's Park and Great Portland Street stations. It opens Monday to Friday from 10:00 to 17:00 and Saturday from 10:00 to 16:00, and is closed on Sunday.

Scans are performed by trained radiographers at the 3Beam Diagnostic Imaging Centre, which is regulated by the Care Quality Commission, GMC and HCPC. The service reports over 20,000 scans completed and is recognised by insurers including WPA, Aviva, Cigna and Bupa.
