About Niko Hems
Niko Hems is Head of Strategy & Medical Communications at YEARS, a Berlin clinic for preventive diagnostics and longevity medicine at Joachimsthaler Straße 34. His work sits between preventive medicine, health strategy and science communication, with a clear focus: separating what the evidence supports from what marketing promises.
His background is in business and data science. He studied at Nova SBE in Lisbon with an exchange at UC Berkeley and is currently enrolled in the Executive MSc in Longevity at the Geneva College of Longevity Sciences. He is a scholar of the Studienstiftung des deutschen Volkes and an associate member of the Healthy Longevity Medicine Society.
In 2026 Springer published his book Überinformiert und fehlgeleitet: Digitale Fehlinformation im Gesundheitsbereich (essentials series), a compact guide for healthcare professionals on how misleading health claims spread online and how to answer them with evidence.
Together with Miguel Medina he hosts the Return on Health podcast, with long-form conversations on longevity and prevention. Guests have included Matt Kaeberlein, Robert Lustig and Aubrey de Grey. He also runs Project Peakspan, an open N=1 log of his own biomarkers and interventions.
On 28 October 2026 he speaks at Longevity Berlin's evening "Longevity: Hype vs. Reality: What Actually Works?" at YEARS in Berlin, covering which interventions have the strongest evidence today and where the science is still uncertain.
