Friedrichsbad Baden-Baden

It is a roughly 3-hour sequence of 17 stations: a thermal shower, a warm-air room at 54C, a hot-air room at 68C, a soap-and-brush massage, thermal steam baths at 45C and 48C, thermal pools from 36C down to a cold plunge at 18C, then drying, cream application, and relaxation and reading rooms. Admission includes bath slippers, towels, shampoo, body lotion, and aromatic tea.

Bathing is traditionally textile-free (nude) on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, and Sunday. On Wednesday and Saturday you can only enter in swimwear. Textile-free days are mixed by tradition.

The Roman-Irish bathing ritual costs 38 euros and includes bath slippers, towels, shampoo, body lotion, and aromatic tea. The optional soap-and-brush massage costs 19 euros and is offered on selected days and times.

Friedrichsbad is open daily from 9:00 to 22:00, with last entry about 3 hours before closing so you have time for the full ritual.

Opened in 1877, it is a Renaissance-style bathing palace modeled on Roman baths, with a domed hall and hand-painted ceramic tiles, fed by Baden-Baden's natural thermal springs. It is part of the UNESCO Great Spa Towns of Europe, designated in 2021.
