HIKI Sauna

HIKI is a floating sauna built on the deck of the historic 1940s cargo ship MS Evolutie in Basel's harbor. It has a wood-fired Finnish sauna at 85 to 90 degrees and a handcrafted yurt sauna, with cold dips in the Rhine and views over the water. It opened in December 2023 and is run as a non-profit association.

HIKI runs as an association, so a CHF 10 annual membership is required to use the sauna. A 2-hour adult session is CHF 35, children under 14 pay CHF 17.50, a 5-visit pass is CHF 160, and a seasonal pass is CHF 420.

During the season the sauna is open Thursday and Friday from 4 PM to 10 PM, Saturday from 2 PM to 10 PM (2 to 6 PM women-only, then mixed), and Sunday from 10 AM to 8 PM. The season runs from November to April.

It is moored at Westquaistrasse 19 in Basel's harbor, on the MS Evolutie, with the sauna on the upper deck facing the Rhine and the sunset.

Yes, bathing is textile-free and mixed-gender, with hourly infusions and birch whisks on Sundays. Saturday afternoons from 2 to 6 PM are reserved for women.
