What is Longevity Brunswick?

Longevity Brunswick is a free community for people who want more healthy years without guessing at it. The city fits that idea. Research density here beats places twice the size, with TU Braunschweig, the national metrology institute PTB, the Helmholtz Centre for Infection Research and a row of federal institutes all sitting within a few tram stops of each other. Careful measurement is a local habit rather than a hobby. Getting outdoors is just as easy: the Ringgleis path circles the whole city on an old railway line, the ponds at Riddagshausen are ten minutes out, and the Harz starts about an hour to the south.

What we run is free meetups, expert talks with researchers and clinicians, and workshops where you try the method instead of watching a slide about it. Recurring subjects are biological age and how honestly each test can estimate it, blood values, sleep, nutrition, strength training and VO2max (how much oxygen your body can use while it is working hard). Biohacking gets a fair hearing followed by a fair going over, usually from someone who reads methods sections for a living. Community challenges sit alongside the talks, where a group holds one habit for a few weeks and then compares what actually happened.

We are a community rather than a Longevity Zentrum, a clinic or a paid health club. Membership costs nothing, we sell nothing, and no treatment, diagnosis or plan is on offer here. The commercial version exists around Brunswick and is easy to find: private practices with longevity check ups, occupational health centres that run company screening, laboratories, sauna and wellness businesses. Members use some of it and say frankly what a check up was worth to them, which is the part no brochure prints. Our community Spots map collects labs, gyms and studios in the region as a starting point, and it implies no medical endorsement from us.

Who turns up: engineers, doctors, researchers from the institutes, students from the TU, and people who simply want to sleep properly and lift something heavier at fifty than they did at thirty. The chapter counts Wolfsburg, Wolfenbüttel, Salzgitter and Hanover as part of its patch, because the distances are short and half the region commutes anyway. To take part, open a free account, join the Brunswick WhatsApp group or come to the next date.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is Longevity Brunswick?+
Longevity Brunswick is the free Brunswick chapter of the Longevity Cities network, open to anyone in the region who cares about healthspan and prevention. We meet for talks, workshops and plain evenings of conversation, and the standard for a claim is the same one people use at work here: show the data. Members range from researchers and engineers to clinicians and people who have never measured anything about themselves. No fee, no application, no prior knowledge required.
Is Longevity Brunswick a longevity club or a health club?+
Club here describes a group of people, not a building with turnstiles and a twelve month contract. Brunswick has gyms, wellness and sauna businesses that do the other thing well, and we are not competing with them: no premises, no price list, no contract to cancel. Plenty of members hold a gym membership and come to us for the reading and the argument. If a talk is useful you come again, and if it is not, nothing has been lost but an evening.
Is there a longevity centre in Brunswick?+
Longevity Brunswick is a community, not a centre with rooms and appointments. In and around the city there are private practices and day clinics that advertise longevity diagnostics, along with occupational health centres focused on workplace prevention and screening. We hold no consulting hours, take no bookings and earn nothing from any provider. What we add is the follow up conversation: members who booked something will tell you what the report contained and whether anybody explained it.
Where can I find a longevity doctor or a private check up in Brunswick?+
We refer nobody, because this community has no medical staff. The realistic routes in the Brunswick region are your Hausarzt for anything that belongs in the statutory system, private practices offering preventive or longevity check ups as a self pay service, and laboratories that bill you directly for a panel. Costs and depth vary a lot between providers, so members compare their own bills and reports at meetups. The Spots map lists places members have been, with no medical vetting from us.
Does Longevity Brunswick offer coaching, nutrition advice or training plans?+
No. Nobody here writes you a plan, and there is no coaching product behind the free events. Trainers, nutrition counsellors and coaches exist on the commercial market in Brunswick and we have no arrangement with any of them. What the community gives you is a group that will take a training week apart with you, point out what the evidence supports and admit where it runs out. Some members hold professional qualifications, and at a meetup they take part as members.
What longevity events, meetups and biohacking sessions happen in Brunswick?+
The Brunswick calendar rests on three formats: free meetups where conversation does the work, expert talks with a researcher or clinician, and workshops with something practical to try. Community challenges run between them, one habit at a time for a few weeks. Topics cycle through biological age, blood values, sleep, nutrition, training and testing methods, and biohacking devices are welcome as long as the claim can survive a question. Dates go up here, in the events feed and in the Brunswick WhatsApp group.
Is Longevity Brunswick free?+
Yes, membership is free and almost every event is free too. There is no paid tier, no upsell after a talk and no product table at the back of the room. Where a date genuinely costs something, because a venue charges rent or a laboratory bills for a measurement, that appears in the listing before you sign up. A free account also opens the bilingual guides and the biological age tool on this site, which stay free no matter how often you use them.
How do I join Longevity Brunswick?+
Choose whichever suits you: create a free account here, join the Brunswick WhatsApp group, or turn up at the next event and introduce yourself. Nothing needs approving. The WhatsApp group carries dates, room changes and the questions people ask between meetups, so most regulars sit there. Instagram and LinkedIn show what the last events looked like if you want a preview. Coming on your own is normal, and someone will start talking to you within about a minute.
Where can I test my biological age in Brunswick (DEXA, VO2max, bloodwork)?+
The region has laboratories that sell extended blood panels to self payers, sports medical practices that do VO2max and lactate testing, and gyms with body composition equipment, with more choice once you include Hanover. We measure nothing ourselves and take no commission from anyone who does. Before booking, the free biological age tool on this site gives you a rough orientation from questions you answer at home. In the group, members share prices and say whether the numbers came with a proper explanation.
Does Longevity Brunswick also cover Wolfsburg, Wolfenbüttel, Salzgitter and Hanover?+
Yes, the chapter reads its area as the whole Brunswick region rather than the city limits. Wolfsburg, Wolfenbüttel and Salzgitter are all a short drive or a regional train away, and Hanover is close enough that people come across for a topic worth the trip. Members already commute between these places for work, so an evening event rarely decides anything. Venues stay near a station where possible, and the exact address is always in the event listing.
Where in Brunswick do the meetups take place?+
Venues change with the format rather than staying at one address, so an evening might land in the Magniviertel, somewhere near the TU campus, or in a room a member can open up for us. The exact address and the nearest stop are always in the listing, and the city is small enough that almost everything is reachable by bike. If you can offer a free room for twenty people, say so in the group, because rooms are the constraint here rather than speakers.
Does Longevity Brunswick organise runs, hikes in the Harz or cold plunges?+
The core of what we run is meetups, expert talks and workshops rather than a sports programme, so nothing regular is promised on that front. Given the Ringgleis around the city, the Elm ridge and the Harz an hour away, an outdoor format would fit the region well, and ideas from members are how new formats usually start here. Suggest a walk, a run or a swim in the WhatsApp group, name a date, and see who answers.
