What is Longevity Hamburg?

Longevity Hamburg is a free, science based community for people in the Hanseatic north who want to stay healthy for longer. The city sets the tone: runners circling the Außenalster before the first meeting of the day, cyclists crossing the Elbe bridges in horizontal rain, swimming halls and saunas that stay full all winter. Health here tends to be a habit people keep quietly rather than something they announce.

Our calendar mixes free meetups, expert talks and hands on workshops. The same practical questions keep coming back: what your bloodwork actually says, how to train VO2max (the test that measures how much oxygen your body can use under load), what strength training does for you after forty, how sleep and shift patterns change recovery, and which biohacking claims survive contact with evidence. Movement formats belong to the mix as well, so a community run by the water or cold exposure in winter can sit in the same month as a talk on biological age.

We are a community rather than a longevity centre, a clinic or a paid health club. Membership costs nothing, there is nothing to buy, and no treatment or diagnosis is on offer here. Hamburg does have a real commercial scene around the topic: preventive medicine practices around Eppendorf and Winterhude, doctors with a longevity focus, private labs, cryo and recovery studios, plus conference formats that fill the halls at Dammtor. Members compare notes on all of it. Our community Spots map collects the labs, gyms and studios people talk about, with no medical endorsement from us.

The room is usually mixed: someone working in a hospital next to a founder from the HafenCity, a runner in marathon training, a person who just finished a book about ageing and wants a sanity check. Creating an account is free, the Hamburg WhatsApp group is open, and there is no application step. Events run in English and German, since the group is international.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is Longevity Hamburg?+
Longevity Hamburg is the free Hamburg group of an international longevity community, open to anyone who wants to stay healthy into later life. We meet across the city for talks, workshops and relaxed get togethers about healthspan, prevention and biohacking. People arrive from very different starting points, from complete beginners to doctors and members who have tracked their own values for years. There is no fee, no application and no prior knowledge needed. Most people find us through the events feed, Meetup or the Hamburg WhatsApp group.
Is Longevity Hamburg a health club or a paid longevity club?+
We use the word club in the social sense: people who meet regularly, with no contract and no monthly fee. A private health club sells access to equipment and a longevity centre sells treatments, which is a different business from ours. Plenty of members hold a gym membership on top of being here, and that combination works well. Joining Longevity Hamburg costs nothing, nobody checks your fitness at the door, and you decide how often you show up.
Is there a longevity center in Hamburg?+
Hamburg does have commercial longevity centres and prevention focused studios, and Longevity Hamburg is not one of them. We are a free community with no treatment rooms and no bookings to take. What we can add is the unfiltered experience: members who paid for a cryo session, a large check up or a recovery package usually say plainly whether it was worth the money. Our Spots map lists local labs, gyms and studios so you have a starting point. None of them are medically vetted by us.
Where do I find a longevity doctor or a preventive medicine practice in Hamburg?+
We cannot refer you to a doctor, because we are a community and not a medical service. Hamburg has practices working with a longevity or preventive medicine focus, a good number of them around Eppendorf, Winterhude and the inner city, and the field is young enough that quality varies a lot. At meetups members swap first hand experiences, which usually beats a directory listing. The Spots map collects longevity friendly addresses, and for anything clinical your GP stays the sensible first stop.
Does Longevity Hamburg offer coaching or a personal longevity plan?+
No coaching programme runs here, and nobody in the community will sell you a plan. What you get instead is free input you can use: talks where you can put a direct question to the speaker afterwards, members who describe what worked for them and what did not, plus bilingual guides and a free biological age tool on the site. Personal coaching does exist as a market in Hamburg and some members pay for it. We simply do not run that side.
Which longevity meetups and biohacking events run in Hamburg?+
Free events run through the year: evening talks, workshops and relaxed meetups where the agenda is mostly conversation. Typical themes are bloodwork, sleep, strength training, nutrition science and the biohacking gadgets people keep asking about. Locations move around the city instead of sitting in one fixed venue, so an event can be central one month and closer to the water the next. Dates go up in the events feed, on Meetup and in the Hamburg WhatsApp group.
Is there a longevity forum or congress in Hamburg?+
Hamburg has turned into a congress city for this topic, with longevity conferences and trade formats booking the large venues near Dammtor. Longevity Hamburg organises none of them and is not a paid forum either. Members do go, then report back at the next meetup, which is a cheap way to hear what was actually said on stage rather than what the programme promised. If you searched for a longevity forum in Hamburg and landed here, this is the free community version.
Is Longevity Hamburg free?+
Yes, and that includes almost every event. Membership of Longevity Hamburg costs nothing, there is no premium tier and no upsell arriving three emails later. When a rare format does carry a charge because a venue or a class has to be paid for, the event page says so before you sign up. Everything else, from the talks to the guides and the biological age tool, is open to anyone with a free account.
How do I become part of Longevity Hamburg?+
Pick whichever is easiest: create a free account on the site, join the Hamburg WhatsApp group, or turn up at the next event and say hello. Nobody screens you and there is no waiting list. If you would rather watch from a distance first, Meetup and Instagram show what past events looked like, which helps when walking into a room of strangers is not your favourite thing. Bringing a friend along is completely fine.
Where can I get a DEXA scan, VO2max test or longevity bloodwork in Hamburg?+
Hamburg has plenty of options for DEXA scans, VO2max testing and extended blood panels, from sports medicine practices to private labs and a few gyms with proper diagnostics. We run no testing ourselves and take no cut from anyone who does. Members compare prices and results openly, which is the quickest way to avoid paying a lot for a panel nobody then explains to you. Before spending anything, you can try the free biological age tool here.
Does Longevity Hamburg run community runs, ice baths or sauna meetups?+
Movement formats belong to the Hamburg mix alongside the talks. Depending on the season that can mean a community run on the paths around the Außenalster, cold water in winter or a sauna round afterwards, always at a pace where nobody gets dropped. Nothing is compulsory and there is no fitness test at the door. Dates appear in the events feed like everything else, and if you would like to lead a format yourself, say so in the group.
Which language are Longevity Hamburg events held in?+
Both English and German are spoken, and the default depends on who is in the room. Hamburg draws a lot of people who moved here for work, so many events run in English while side conversations switch to German without anyone making a fuss. Speakers usually ask at the start which language suits the group. Guides and the site itself are bilingual, so you can read everything in whichever language you think in. Shaky German will not hold you back.
