What is Longevity London?

Longevity London is the capital's free, research-led community for people who want more healthy years, and it sits inside the Longevity Cities network. Few places pack this subject so tightly together. Ageing research at UCL, Imperial College and the Francis Crick Institute near King's Cross is a short Tube ride from the private clinics of Marylebone and Harley Street, and from the wellbeing floors of the Mayfair members' clubs. Standing in the middle of all that, the useful habit is asking what the evidence really supports.

Four things fill the calendar, all of them free: evenings where the talking is the point, sessions with a researcher or clinician at the front, workshops where you handle something yourself, and challenges the group holds together for a couple of weeks. Subjects that keep returning include biological age, sleep, nutrition, strength work, VO2max (the ceiling on how much oxygen you can burn while working hard) and reading a blood panel without losing sleep over one flagged marker. Biohacking comes up at every meetup, usually right until somebody asks which trial the claim came from. Rooms rotate between the centre and Shoreditch, Southwark or Canary Wharf, because nobody wants to cross the whole city on a weeknight.

In a city this full of paid alternatives, the boundary needs saying out loud: no clinic here, no members' club, no coaching outfit, no conference company. Belonging costs nothing, we sell nothing, and no treatment or diagnosis exists on our side of that line. Europe's busiest commercial longevity market does sit on our doorstep, from doctors offering private check ups to imaging and testing firms, recovery studios and ticketed summits that fill a hall for two days. Members buy plenty of it and come back with blunt verdicts. Spots, the map our members maintain, marks labs, gyms and studios around town so you have somewhere to begin, and we vet nobody medically.

Who turns up: NHS doctors and PhD students, founders, people from the finance end of town, and someone who finished an ageing podcast last month and wants a sanity check. Events run in English. This page exists in German too, since a good share of members read German more comfortably. Getting started takes one of three moves: register here for nothing, ask to be added to the London WhatsApp thread, or simply walk into the next event. Nobody vets the arrivals and there is no queue to join.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is Longevity London?+
Longevity London is a free, open group in the capital for anyone with an interest in healthspan, prevention and the science underneath both, and it forms part of Longevity Cities. Evenings happen all over town: talks, workshops, and looser meetups where the discussion carries the night. Clinicians and researchers sit beside people who only began reading their own blood results last year. Nobody pays, nobody applies, nobody is handed required reading. Dates reach most members through the events feed on this page or the London WhatsApp thread.
Is Longevity London a longevity club or a private members' club?+
Club, in our case, means a set of people rather than a building with an invoice attached. Genuine private members' clubs in the capital do run longevity floors and diagnostics, with joining fees to match, and we work on entirely different terms: free, open to everyone in town, no premises whatsoever. A fair number of members also hold a gym or club card, which sits perfectly well alongside this. At the door, nobody checks a job title, a postcode or a resting heart rate.
Is there a longevity clinic or longevity centre in London?+
Yes, and probably more than in any other European city, though Longevity London is not among them. Private longevity clinics cluster around Harley Street and Marylebone, selling packages that pair imaging with long blood panels and an estimated biological age. No treatment rooms exist on our side, no bookings pass through us, and no provider pays us anything. What the group adds is the bit no brochure carries: someone who bought the package will tell you straight what the report changed, if anything.
Where can I find a longevity doctor or a private health check in London?+
No referral can come from us, since this is a community and keeps no medical staff. Three broad routes exist in the capital: your NHS GP, private practices with a preventive or functional medicine focus, and testing firms selling scans and panels straight to consumers. Price and quality both range widely, which is why members trade experiences out loud at meetups rather than trust a landing page. Longevity friendly practices, labs and studios that members have actually been to appear on Spots, our map, without any medical vetting on our part.
Is Longevity London the same as the London longevity network or the other longevity hubs in the city?+
No. The capital holds several longevity groups, some pointed at investors and founders, some at clinicians and scientists, and we hold no affiliation with any of them. Ours is the local chapter of Longevity Cities, and our meetups suit people who want the research to change their own week rather than seed a fund. Overlap happens constantly and we like it, since many members attend two or three groups. If a search for a London longevity network brought you here, this is the free and open one.
Does Longevity London organise a longevity conference or summit?+
No. Companies with no link to us put on the big ticketed summits and wellness expos the capital sees each year. Ours is the free layer running quietly between them: small rooms, direct questions, no stage lighting. People who attended the large events usually debrief at the following meetup, which is an inexpensive way to learn what survived a follow up question and what amounted to a product launch. Quite a few of our talks start life as a speaker suggestion from inside the group.
Is Longevity London free?+
Yes, and so is nearly every event we put on. No membership fee exists, no premium tier, no sales pitch waiting at the end of a talk, which is worth something in a capital where prevention usually arrives as a private purchase. Should an evening carry a genuine cost, because a room has to be paid for or a lab bills for a test, the listing says so before anyone registers. An account, which is also free, opens the bilingual guides plus the biological age check we host.
How do I join Longevity London?+
Take whichever of the three routes fits: register on this site for nothing, get added to the London WhatsApp thread, or show up at the next event and say hello. None of them runs through a form that somebody has to sign off. WhatsApp tends to move fastest, since dates, room swaps and last minute questions surface there before anywhere else. If you would rather have a look first, Instagram and LinkedIn give a sense of how recent meetups went. Coming on your own is ordinary, and a friend in tow is welcome.
Where can I test my biological age in London (DEXA, VO2max, bloodwork)?+
Sports science labs, private practices and a handful of gyms that bought proper kit will do DEXA body scans, VO2max testing or a long blood panel, so the capital is well covered. None of that happens here, and no provider pays us a commission. Before spending, the free biological age check on this site returns a rough estimate from questions you answer at your kitchen table. Prices and results get posted in the group, so you learn whether a panel came with an explanation or only a PDF.
What longevity events, meetups and biohacking sessions happen in London?+
The capital's calendar rests on four formats. Meetups whose value sits mostly in the conversation, expert talks led by a researcher or a clinician, workshops with something to try in your own hands, and community challenges that hold one shared habit for a fortnight or so. Progress gets posted in the group. Topics cycle through sleep, training, nutrition, testing and whichever biohacking gadget is having its moment. Dates go into the events feed on this page and into the London WhatsApp thread. Taking part is free.
Where in London do you meet, and does the chapter cover the whole city?+
Rooms rotate instead of settling into one postcode, so an evening might sit in the centre, in Shoreditch or Hackney, south of the river in Southwark, or east towards Canary Wharf. Whichever it is, the listing carries the precise address. Greater London as a whole belongs to this chapter, and people do travel in from Croydon, Richmond and the commuter towns when a topic justifies the trip. Offers of a room or a host space always help, since free venues are the genuine bottleneck here.
Which language are Longevity London events held in?+
English carries the events, because the group is as international as the capital around it. Polished academic English is no requirement for asking a question, and speakers are thoroughly used to accents from every direction. German readers get this page in German as well, since a decent share of members moved here for work or study from German speaking countries. Guides and the rest of the site come in both languages, so you can read in whichever one you think in. Conversations over a drink wander between languages anyway.
