What is Longevity Vancouver?
Longevity Vancouver is a free community for people who want more healthy years, and the city hands it a head start. The Stanley Park seawall gives you a flat ten kilometre loop at sea level, the Grouse Grind and the trails on Cypress and Mount Seymour are one bridge away on the North Shore, and swimmers are in the water off Kitsilano Beach in months when nobody would call it warm. The New Year's Day plunge at English Bay has been a civic habit here for over a century. Learning to keep moving through eight months of rain is the local skill worth copying.
Our events are free: meetups where the conversation does the work, expert talks with researchers and clinicians, and workshops with something practical in them. Recurring subjects are biological age and what each test can honestly claim, bloodwork, sleep, nutrition, strength training and VO2max (how much oxygen your body can use when you are pushing). Vitamin D and light through a dark Pacific Northwest winter comes up every year without fail. Community challenges run between events, where a group holds one habit for a few weeks and then compares what changed.
We are a community, not a longevity clinic, not a private health club and not a care provider. Membership is free, nothing is sold here, and nobody on our side assesses, prescribes or treats. Vancouver has a busy private market for this, almost all of it outside MSP and paid from your own pocket: longevity and preventive clinics downtown, around False Creek and in North Vancouver selling day long assessments with extended blood panels, DEXA and imaging, plus IV lounges and recovery studios with sauna and cold plunge. Members book some of it and report back without a filter, which is more useful than any price sheet. Our community Spots map collects labs, gyms and studios around the region as a starting point, and it carries no medical endorsement from us.
The room usually mixes researchers and students from UBC and SFU with clinicians, people from the tech sector, trail runners, and newcomers to Canada who are still working out how the health system fits together. The chapter treats Metro Vancouver as its area, so Burnaby, Richmond, North Vancouver and Surrey all count. To take part, create a free account, join the Vancouver WhatsApp group or come to the next event. Nobody screens you first.
