What is Longevity San Francisco?+
Longevity San Francisco is the free Bay Area chapter of an international longevity community, open to anyone who wants to stay healthy for longer. We meet for talks, workshops and unhurried get togethers about healthspan, prevention and the science behind both. The people who come range from engineers tracking every metric to clinicians, founders and complete beginners who have never had a blood panel explained to them. No fee, no application, no prior knowledge. Most people find us through the events feed, the Meetup group or the Bay Area WhatsApp group.
Is Longevity San Francisco a longevity club or a private health club?+
Club here means the social kind: people who meet regularly, with no contract and no monthly bill. A private health club sells access to equipment, classes and a recovery suite. That is a fair product and a completely different business from what happens here. Many members pay for a gym alongside this, which is a sensible split. Taking part costs nothing, nobody checks your training history at the door, and how often you turn up is entirely your call.
Is there a longevity center in San Francisco?+
Yes, San Francisco has several private longevity centers, and Longevity San Francisco is not one of them. The commercial ones work on a private-pay basis and bundle imaging, a wide blood panel and an epigenetic age estimate into an annual programme, with South San Francisco and the downtown blocks near Union Square holding a good share of them. We have no premises, no scanner and nothing to sell. What we do have is members who bought those programmes and will tell you what the report changed for them.
Where can I find a longevity doctor, an anti-aging clinic or NAD therapy in San Francisco?+
No referral can come from us, since this is a community rather than a medical provider. Supply is not the problem in the Bay Area: age-management and functional medicine practices around the city, hormone and NAD clinics, plus precision-health startups that grew out of the local biotech scene. Quality and pricing vary a great deal, so a first-hand account beats a directory listing. Ask at a meetup, check the Spots map for places members have actually been, and keep your own physician in the loop for anything clinical.
What is longevity medicine, and is that what Longevity San Francisco does?+
Longevity medicine is a private-pay branch of preventive medicine: extended lab panels, imaging, sometimes genomics, read by a physician looking for risk decades before symptoms show. Practices offering it are easy to find here, and no, that is not what we do. Longevity San Francisco is a free community where people read the same research, compare what their own results looked like and work out which parts are worth paying for. Nothing here replaces a doctor, and any test you decide on stays between you and yours.
Does Longevity San Francisco offer coaching or a personal longevity protocol?+
There is no coaching programme here and nobody will sell you a protocol. What the community gives you instead is free input you can act on: talks where you put your question to the speaker afterwards, members describing what they tried and where it led nowhere, bilingual guides and a free biological age tool on the site. Paid longevity coaching exists across the Bay Area and a few members use it. We do not run that side and take no commission from anyone who does.
What longevity events, meetups and biohacking sessions happen in San Francisco?+
Events are free and spread through the year: evening talks with a researcher or clinician, workshops you leave with something to try, and open meetups where the agenda is mostly the room. Recurring topics are bloodwork, sleep, Zone 2 and VO2max, strength training, nutrition science and whichever biohacking device everyone is currently arguing about. There is no fixed venue, so an evening might land in SoMa one month and nearer the Presidio the next. Dates go up in the events feed and on Meetup.
Is Longevity San Francisco free?+
Yes, membership is free and so are almost all events. There is no premium tier, no card on file and no upgrade offer landing in your inbox a week later. If a rare format does cost something, because a venue or an instructor has to be paid, that is stated on the event page up front. Everything else is open with a free account: talks, bilingual guides, the community feed and the biological age tool. In a city where an annual longevity programme can run into five figures, that difference is worth spelling out.
How do I join Longevity San Francisco?+
Three routes work equally well: a free account on the site, the Bay Area WhatsApp group, or simply turning up at the next event. There is no application form, no vetting and no waiting list. If you want a look first, the Meetup page and Instagram show how previous evenings went, which helps when a room full of strangers is not your natural habitat. Come alone or bring someone. Leaving early is normal and nobody takes it personally.
Where can I test my biological age in San Francisco (DEXA, VO2max, bloodwork)?+
The Bay Area is well served for this: mobile and walk-in DEXA providers for body composition, sports labs for VO2max, and both retail and clinic-ordered blood panels, with epigenetic age kits sold on top. We run none of it and earn nothing from any of it. Members compare prices and, more usefully, what they did with the numbers afterwards, which is the part that decides whether a test was worth the money. The free biological age tool here is a reasonable place to start before spending anything.
Does Longevity San Francisco run hikes, community runs, cold plunges or sauna meetups?+
The regular programme is meetups, expert talks, workshops and the occasional community challenge, so treat movement formats as something the group can add rather than a fixed part of the calendar. San Francisco makes them tempting, with the trails through Golden Gate Park, the Presidio and the coastal path towards Ocean Beach on one side, and a growing number of contrast therapy studios on the other. If you would like to lead a run, a hike or a plunge, say so in the WhatsApp group. Suggestions from members are how new formats appear.
Does Longevity San Francisco cover Oakland, Berkeley, Palo Alto and the South Bay?+
Yes, the chapter is for the whole Bay Area, not the seven by seven miles of the city alone. Members come over the Bay Bridge from Oakland and Berkeley, up and down the Peninsula from South San Francisco and Palo Alto, and north from San Jose and the rest of the South Bay, which is why events tend to be planned near BART or Caltrain. The Spots map covers labs, gyms and studios across the region. Where you live changes nothing about taking part.
