What is Longevity Berlin?

Longevity Berlin is a free community for anyone in the capital who wants more healthy years, and it runs on evidence rather than trends. The city pulls the topic in two directions at once. Ageing and molecular medicine research goes on at the Charité and out on the Buch campus in the far north, while a few S-Bahn stops away people leave a club at nine on Sunday morning and file sleep under optional. Both of those Berlins end up in the same room at our meetups, and the arguments are usually worth staying for.

Everything on the calendar is free: meetups built around open discussion, expert talks with researchers and clinicians, hands-on workshops, and community challenges where a group tries one habit together for a few weeks. The subjects keep circling back. Biological age, sleep and circadian rhythm (your internal body clock, which Berlin nightlife and shift work push around harder than in most cities), nutrition, strength training, cold exposure, VO2max as a measure of how much oxygen you can put to work under strain, and how to read a blood panel without panicking. Biohacking comes up at almost every event, and the first question in the room is normally where the data came from.

Type longevity Berlin into a search box and you mostly get businesses: private clinics selling whole body imaging and epigenetic panels, centres with an aesthetics focus, membership clubs around Friedrichstraße with treatments attached. We are in a different category. Longevity Berlin is a community rather than a longevity centre, a clinic or a paid health club, membership costs nothing, and no treatment or diagnosis is on offer here. That commercial scene is real and parts of it are careful work, which is why members talk openly about what a check-up cost them and what came back. Our community Spots map collects labs, gyms, studios and longevity-friendly practices around the city as a starting point. We check none of them medically.

The crowd is as international as the city, so many events run in English while the side conversations drift into German. Hospital staff, founders working out of Kreuzberg and Mitte, trainers, PhD students and people whose interest started with a podcast all turn up. To take part, create a free account, join the Berlin WhatsApp group, or simply come to the next event. Nobody screens you and there is no approval step.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is Longevity Berlin?+
Longevity Berlin is the Berlin chapter of a free longevity community, and it exists so that ageing science does not stay locked inside universities. We put on meetups, expert talks and workshops across the city, open to anyone who lives here or is passing through. The people who come are a mix: clinicians, coders, athletes, retirees, and beginners who have never had a blood panel done. Nothing costs money and nobody has to prove anything at the door. Products and treatments are not part of what we do.
Is Longevity Berlin a longevity club or a health club?+
Club fits us only in the social sense. Berlin has commercial longevity clubs that sell memberships with infusions, diagnostics or spa access attached, and we are not one of them: no contract, no monthly fee, no premises of our own. What Longevity Berlin gives you instead is a group of people who read the same studies and meet in the evening to pull them apart. Plenty of members also pay for a gym or a studio somewhere in the city, and that combination causes nobody here any trouble.
Is there a longevity center in Berlin?+
Yes, Berlin has several private longevity centres, and Longevity Berlin is not one of them. They work on a self-pay basis and usually combine extended bloodwork, imaging, an epigenetic age estimate and a follow-up plan, at prices most people think about for a while first. We have no treatment rooms and nothing to book. The community adds the part the brochures leave out: members who went through one of those programmes will say plainly whether the report changed anything for them, and what they ignored afterwards.
Where can I find a longevity doctor or clinic in Berlin?+
We cannot refer you anywhere, since Longevity Berlin employs no medical staff and provides no treatment. The city is well supplied: the Charité is one of the largest university hospitals in Europe, some GP practices in districts like Friedrichshain now offer prevention and healthspan consultations, and private clinics advertise longevity medicine openly. Quality varies, because the field is young and barely regulated. At meetups people share first-hand experience, which tends to be more useful than a price list, and the Spots map lists addresses members have actually visited.
What longevity events, meetups and biohacking sessions happen in Berlin?+
Free events run through the year in changing locations rather than one fixed venue, so an evening can land in Mitte one month and further east the next. The formats are meetups, talks that go properly into the research, hands-on workshops, and community challenges where a group tries one habit together for a few weeks. Recurring subjects include biological age testing, circadian biology, metabolic health and cold exposure. Dates appear on this page, in the events feed, on Meetup and in the Berlin WhatsApp group.
Is there a longevity summit or longevity conference in Berlin?+
Berlin has become the main German stage for large longevity events, among them the Life Summit and a world congress on targeting longevity, and we organise none of them. Those are ticketed industry gatherings with speaker line-ups, an expo floor and a price to match. Longevity Berlin runs the free part in between, meaning meetups and talks where you can ask a follow-up question without queueing at a microphone. Members who attend the big conferences tend to report back at the next meetup, so the honest summary reaches everyone else for nothing.
Is Longevity Berlin free?+
Yes. Membership of Longevity Berlin costs nothing and almost every event is free to attend, with no premium tier and no sales pitch arriving three emails later. If a rare format does carry a real cost, for example a venue charging entry or a lab charging for a test, that is stated in the listing before you sign up. The biological age tool, the bilingual guides and the community feed stay open to anyone with an account. Keeping it free is deliberate, since the priced end of this topic is already well covered here.
How do I join Longevity Berlin?+
Three routes, all of them immediate: make a free account here, join the Berlin WhatsApp group, or turn up at the next event. There is no form to fill in, no interview and no waiting list. The WhatsApp group is where dates, last-minute changes and questions land first, so most people start there. If an evening among strangers sounds like effort, you can look through earlier events on Meetup and Instagram beforehand. Bringing a friend along is completely normal and needs no announcement.
Where can I test my biological age in Berlin (DEXA, VO2max, bloodwork)?+
Berlin is one of the easier German cities for this. Specialist labs, sports medicine practices and a number of gyms offer DEXA body composition scans, VO2max testing and extended blood panels, while several private providers sell epigenetic age tests. We carry out none of it and take no commission from anyone who does. Before spending money, the free biological age tool on this site gives you a rough first read from questions you answer at home. Members post prices and results in the group, which speeds up any comparison.
Are Longevity Berlin events held in English or German?+
Both, and English is common because Berlin is full of people who moved here without German. Many talks run in English, questions can be asked in either language, and if a speaker presents in German somebody will translate. The listing says which language to expect. Guides and the site itself are bilingual, so you can read everything in whichever language you think in. If your German is still at Späti level, that has never stopped anyone from having a good evening with us.
Does Longevity Berlin do cold plunges, sauna or cryotherapy sessions?+
Cold exposure is a recurring topic at our events rather than a service we provide, and we operate no cryo chamber or sauna. Berlin makes the do-it-yourself version easy, with lake swimming at the Schlachtensee or the Müggelsee straight through the winter and public pools in almost every district. Commercial cryotherapy studios exist in Mitte and beyond for people who prefer minus 110 degrees indoors. Members compare both quite openly. If you want to lead a cold water or sauna meetup, propose it in the group.
Where in Berlin do you meet, and do you cover Potsdam and Brandenburg?+
Meetups move around instead of sitting in one district, so an evening might be in Mitte, Kreuzberg, Prenzlauer Berg or somewhere along the Ringbahn, with the exact address in the event listing. People travel in from Potsdam and the surrounding Brandenburg towns, since regional trains and the S-Bahn make that straightforward. Anyone in the region is welcome, whether or not they live inside the city limits. If the trip is too long on a weekday, the guides and the community feed work from home.
